JPML Won't Hitch 11 Suits Over Alleged Trailer Defects

Law360, New York (April 17, 2012, 2:06 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on Tuesday refused Cottrell Inc.'s request to centralize 11 lawsuits in eight districts claiming the Georgia-based company manufactured defective trailers that caused injuries.

The panel sided with the plaintiffs, all of whom opposed Cottrell's attempt to centralize the lawsuits in the Eastern District of Mississippi. Defendants Auto Handling Corp., Jack Cooper Transport Co. and Pacific Motor Trucking Co. had supported merging the actions.
