OFCCP Hiring Rules Draw Contractors' Ire

Law360, New York (April 18, 2012, 8:09 PM EDT) -- The Office of Federal Contractor Compliance Programs has taken a heavy-handed approach in recent efforts to boost hiring of veterans and disabled people, combining burdensome documentation requirements with unclear compliance guidelines, contractors' representatives told lawmakers Wednesday.

The House subcommittee on health, employment, labor, and pensions heard testimony on rules proposed by the OFCCP that would require federal contractors to move toward a 7 percent disabled workforce and hire more veterans, and to document and justify decisions not to hire disabled or veteran applicants.
