Calif. Appeals Court Rebuffs Challenge To Light Rail Project

Law360, New York (April 17, 2012, 9:34 PM EDT) -- A California appeals court on Tuesday affirmed a lower court’s decision to toss an environmental group’s challenge to the construction of a light rail line as part of a connection between downtown Los Angeles and Santa Monica.

A three-judge panel rejected an argument from California nonprofit Neighbors for Smart Rail that the Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority that approved the project had been wrong to use future baseline data to determine some of the line's potential environmental impacts, instead of data from around 2009.
