Microsoft Founder Says USPTO Backs Web Patents In IP Row

Law360, New York (April 18, 2012, 2:24 PM EDT) -- Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s company on Tuesday asked a federal court in Washington state to reopen a patent suit against Google Inc., Apple Inc. and nine others after the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office upheld two of the four patents-in-suit.

In a motion seeking to lift a stay placed on the case in July, Interval Licensing LLC said the USPTO had on April 6 confirmed the claims in two of Interval’s four patents-in-suit under re-examination with the agency. That confirmation should allow the case to proceed,...
