Lawmakers Amend Cybersecurity Bills With Votes On Horizon

Law360, New York (April 18, 2012, 9:28 PM EDT) -- Two U.S. House of Representatives committees on Wednesday approved amendments to cybersecurity legislation in anticipation of next week’s expected votes on numerous cybersecurity bills.

Rep. Dan Lungren, R-Calif., submitted an amended version of his Promoting and Enhancing Cybersecurity and Information Sharing Effectiveness Act, or PRECISE Act, to the House Homeland Security Committee that eliminated infrastructure systems requirements, instead making them voluntary.

The bill calls on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to share critical information regarding cyber threats with infrastructure owners and operators on a timely basis. It...
