Ex-Univ. of Miami Employee Drops Medicaid FCA Suit

Law360, Chicago (April 23, 2012, 5:02 PM EDT) -- A former University of Miami employee on Thursday dropped his whistleblower suit alleging the school's medical center fraudulently billed Medicaid for millions of dollars, walking away just over a month after the university argued that the case should be axed.

As requested by relator Julio Licinio, U.S. District Judge Ursula Ungaro dismissed without prejudice the Florida federal court case alleging that the medical center's behavioral health unit violated the False Claims Act by paying inflated costs for mobile crisis intervention services, double billing for clinical study...
