FDA Unveils Rules For Nanotech In Food, Cosmetics

Law360, New York (April 23, 2012, 6:29 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration released draft guidance Friday for the use of nanotechnology in food and cosmetics, saying companies may need to perform additional safety tests or resubmit products for approval if they incorporate the technology.

The FDA published two separate documents with recommendations for the two industries regarding nanotechnology, which is the use of materials made up of particles a billionth of a meter in size.
