Witness Bombshell Kicks Off Edwards Trial

Law360, Greensboro (April 23, 2012, 8:16 PM EDT) -- A key prosecution witness in the criminal trial of two-time presidential candidate John Edwards contacted three other witnesses in the weeks leading up to his testimony Monday, a possible violation of federal law and an early blow to the government's case, a federal judge said.

Andrew Young, a former aide to Edwards, called the three other witnesses, including a woman with whom he allegedly had a one-night stand, to discuss their planned testimony, U.S. District Judge Catherine Eagles said before opening statements Monday.
