State Farm Under Fire Over Katrina Calculations

Law360 (August 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal district judge has allowed a Louisiana couple to move forward with their breach of contract and negligence claims against State Farm Fire & Casualty Company, with the pair taking particular aim at the method used by the insurer to determine payments for Hurricane Katrina-related losses.

On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Stanwood Duval partially denied State Farm's motions to dismiss the various claims, ruling that most of the allegations against the insurance giant should stand.
