Class Cert. Granted In Junk Fax Suit Against Insurer

Law360, New York (April 25, 2012, 5:30 PM EDT) -- Recipients of more than 7,800 fax advertisements for insurance services have won class certification in an Ohio lawsuit claiming Combined Insurance Group Ltd. violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act by sending the advertisements without permission, an order posted Tuesday said.

U.S. District Judge Donald Nugent granted a motion for class certification by The Siding and Insulation Co., which claimed in a May 2011 complaint that Combined Insurance sent unsolicited fax advertisements to thousands of fax numbers to promote its insurance sales and services.
