DR Horton Gives Up Drilling Rights For NC Homes

Law360, New York (April 25, 2012, 8:58 PM EDT) -- Texas-based homebuilder D.R. Horton Inc. reportedly informed a North Carolina agency Tuesday it would drop its controversial policy of retaining the right to drill for natural gas and minerals on residential properties it sells in the state.

Upon request, D.R. Horton — the nation's biggest homebuilder — will restore the drilling rights to homeowners from whom it withheld them in recent years, the North Carolina Real Estate Commission told regional daily newspaper The News & Observer.
