FTC Scores Partial Victory In LED Bulb False Ad Suit

Law360, New York (April 26, 2012, 2:06 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Wednesday granted summary judgment for one claim against Lights of America Inc., but dismissed other portions of a Federal Trade Commission suit over allegedly exaggerated marketing claims about its light-emitting diode bulbs.

Although Judge James V. Selna ruled in favor of Lights of America's request to toss FTC claims over the bulbs' light output and said the company can continue telling customers "you'll never change your light bulb again," the judge found Lights of America made unsubstantiated statements on its packaging...
