13 States Want In On $90M Medicaid Suit Against Healthpoint

Law360, New York (April 26, 2012, 1:50 PM EDT) -- Thirteen U.S. states on Wednesday moved to join a whistleblower suit claiming Healthpoint Ltd. caused Medicaid to pay $90 million in claims for bedsore ointment Xenaderm despite the drug's ineligibility for coverage, a month after a judge rejected Healthpoint's bid to toss the suit.

Arkansas, Delaware, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Wisconsin all wish to join a suit claiming that from 2002 to 2006, Healthpoint submitted false quarterly statements to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and...
