Ill. State Senate Passes Fracking Regulation Bill

Law360, New York (April 27, 2012, 3:55 PM EDT) -- The Illinois Senate on Thursday unanimously passed a bill setting standards for hydraulic fracturing activity as energy companies prepare to drill for natural gas in the state for the first time.

Moving on to the state's House of Representatives after the 54-0 Senate vote, the bill gives the state's Department of Natural Resources the ability to regulate hydraulic fracturing, commonly known as fracking, and forces companies to publicly disclose the chemicals used in the process.
