Bribe-Paying Hospital CEO Gets 4 Months

Law360, New York (May 1, 2012, 7:41 PM EDT) -- Robert Aquino, the former CEO and owner of New York's Parkway Hospital, was sentenced to four months in prison Tuesday for paying bribes to ex-New York state Sen. Carl Kruger in an attempt to keep his hospital open.

Aquino, a physician whose tenure heading Parkway Hospital in Queens fulfilled a long-held dream, paid the bribes as part of an ultimately failed attempt to keep his struggling hospital open when the state government decided to consolidate medical centers, according to his attorney, Peter Brooke Pope of Jenner...
