Enviros Blast Cities' Veto Power In NY Power Plant Regs

Law360, New York (May 2, 2012, 3:14 PM EDT) -- New York renewable energy advocates on Wednesday blasted proposed rules meant to streamline approval of new power plants, saying they cede too much veto power to local communities, many of which oppose wind projects.

The Alliance for Clean Energy New York says the regulations, which will implement legislation passed last June, undercut the law's intention to weaken local zoning authority and place most of the authority over new power plant sites with the state.
