Women Drop Claims Against Pharmas Over DES

Law360 (August 29, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Several women have dropped claims against affiliates of drugmakers GlaxoSmithKline plc, Sanofi-Aventis and Pfizer Inc. that a miscarriage prevention drug caused them to develop or be at higher risk for cancer, infertility and pregnancy complications.

Kimberly Hayes, Ceri Flowers and Christine Higgs dropped claims against SmithKline Beecham Corp. in court papers filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. The filings also showed that Hayes and Melissa Crowley dropped claims against Sanofi-Aventis predecessor Merrell Pharmaceuticals Inc.
