BIS Fines Mattson Over Unlicensed Tech Exports

Law360, New York (May 2, 2012, 4:13 PM EDT) -- Mattson Technology Inc. on Monday agreed to pay $850,000 to settle allegations brought by the U.S. Department of Commerce that the company violated federal export regulations by transferring equipment containing restricted technology to banned countries without a license.

Assistant Secretary of Commerce of Export Enforcement David Mills signed off on the agreement Monday, resolving claims that the company, which manufactures semiconductor wafer processing equipment, violated the Export Administration Act of 1979.
