Judge Returns MTBE Case To New Hampshire

Law360, New York (August 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Ending a long-running feud over jurisdiction, the case brought by New Hampshire's attorney general against oil companies over alleged water contamination has been remanded back to state court from the federal home of the massive multidistrict litigation.

New Hampshire, the first state to file one of dozens of suits over the controversial gas additive, methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), won its motion to remand after the expiration date for appeals passed without challenge by the energy giants.
