SEC To Hire Outside Investigator To Probe OIG Misconduct

Law360, New York (May 8, 2012, 5:25 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is hiring an independent investigator to probe allegations of misconduct at the SEC's Office of Inspector General, an SEC spokesman said Tuesday.

“An individual has raised allegations of misconduct by former and current employees in the Office of Inspector General,” SEC spokesman John Nester said.

He added that the matter was promptly referred to the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency, an agency in the executive branch that monitors and develops standards for the offices of the Inspectors...
