Garmin Can't Escape Tracking Tech Trade Secrets Suit

Law360, New York (May 11, 2012, 5:14 PM EDT) -- A Virginia federal judge refused Wednesday to dismiss the bulk of a suit alleging Garmin International Inc. violated a trade secrets agreement and publicly disclosed Beacon Wireless Solutions Inc.'s technology for monitoring vehicles, trimming an implied contract claim he found was preempted.

U.S. District Judge Glen E. Conrad allowed the misappropriation of trade secrets, unjust enrichment and breach of contracts claims to survive, however, finding that genuine issues of material facts remained that precluded granting Garmin's motion to dismiss in its entirety.
