Alleged Texting Scammers Put Up $2M To End Texas AG's Suit

Law360, New York (May 10, 2012, 8:42 PM EDT) -- An Arizona company that allegedly ran a text messaging scheme that bilked Texas residents out of millions in unauthorized cellphone charges agreed Wednesday to pay $2 million to Texas to settle the state's claims that it engaged in deceptive trade practices.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said the settlement amount would be used to compensate victims for the charges that appeared on their cellphone bills as a result of Eye Level Holdings LLC’s scam. Eye Level does business as Jawa.
