Ariz. Gov. Vetoes Bill Demanding Release Of Federal Land

Law360, New York (May 16, 2012, 3:18 PM EDT) -- Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed legislation Monday demanding that the federal government relinquish title over all public lands to the state, a measure that could affect millions of acres.

The legislation, Senate Bill 1332, also sought to give Arizona the right to sell off these public lands. The legislation was similar to a bill that passed the Utah Legislature and was signed by Gov. Gary Herbert in March.
