NJ Eyes Legislative Relief For Solar Industry Troubles

Law360, New York (May 17, 2012, 9:31 PM EDT) -- Pending legislative and regulatory measures could provide more certainty for New Jersey's volatile solar energy market, which has recently been plagued by a significant imbalance between supply and demand, experts said during a state bar association program Thursday on renewable energy.

Solar projects have skyrocketed in the state, but the solar renewable energy credits, or SRECs, that those projects generate and retail suppliers purchase to meet so-called renewable portfolio standard requirements have dropped to record lows, according to James E.
