Texas Oil Co. Settles Clean Water Act Claims

Law360, New York (September 7, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Meridian Resource & Exploration LLC has agreed to pay a $504,000 civil penalty to settle allegations of Clean Water Act violations related to a Louisiana oil spill, federal officials announced Thursday.

As part of the settlement, the Texas oil company and its subsidiary Louisiana Onshore Properties LLC, have also agreed to pump up their pipeline monitoring, inspection and maintenance programs; update their pipeline corrosion prevention process; and hire an outside consultant to evaluate those reforms.
