Gas Legislation May Raise Pump Prices: FTC

Law360, New York (September 7, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The head of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission has told Congress that legislation under consideration to address the temperature of fuel may end up increasing the price consumers pay at the pump.

In a letter sent Aug. 28 and released Thursday, FTC Chairman Deborah Platt Majoras told Rep. Darrell E. Issa (R-Calif.) that while the FTC had not investigated the matter, it looked as if the sale of “hot fuel” may not cost customers extra money.
