Nebraskans Mount Constitutional Challenge To Keystone Route

Law360, New York (May 23, 2012, 8:25 PM EDT) -- Three landowners in Nebraska sued state officials on Wednesday over a state law aimed at quickening the approval process for a new route for the Keystone XL pipeline, claiming the statute violates various constitutional provisions, including the separation of powers.

Following concerns that the pipeline as originally planned would have crossed environmentally sensitive parts of the state, Canadian energy giant TransCanada Corp. is currently working with the state to propose a new route through Nebraska.
