Australia Probes Google-DoubleClick Merger

Law360 (September 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Australia's competition watchdog has spearheaded an investigation into Google Inc.'s proposed $3 billion takeover of online advertising firm DoubleClick Inc.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is set to review comments from the advertising industry, as the deadline for submissions expires on Tuesday.

The commission's inquiry into the Google-DoubleClick merger — a deal that has received scrutiny around the world — is set to end on Oct. 16 after it has evaluated feedback from industry members.
