Calif. Court Denies Injunction Against SMIC

Law360 (September 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A California state court refused on Friday to grant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp.'s request for a preliminary injunction to stop Chinese rival Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. from making chips that allegedly infringe a TSMC patent.

The alleged infringement violates a settlement the two companies reached in 2005 in another lawsuit over the same patents, according to the complaint TSMC filed last year in the Superior Court of California in the County of Alameda.
