Symantec To Pay $10M To Settle Patent Dispute

Law360, New York (May 13, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Software maker Symantec has agreed to pay $10 million to rival Altiris Inc. as part of a settlement of a protracted patent dispute over disk management technology.

The companies said they have amicably settled all pending patent litigation, and have signed a cross-licensing agreement that resolves all legal claims between the companies.

Under terms of the agreement, Symantec will pay a $10 million fee to Altiris for use of the disputed patented technology in any of Symantec's products, the companies said.
