Commerce Says Vietnam Subsidized Wire Hanger Exports

Law360, New York (May 30, 2012, 4:37 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Commerce preliminarily ruled on Wednesday that Vietnam had unfairly subsidized its wire hanger exporters, allowing them to sell their products in the U.S. at below-market prices.

The ruling follows the U.S. International Trade Commission's February initial decision that U.S. hanger makers had been harmed by imports of cheap, subsidized Vietnamese hangers. If both groups make their rulings final in the coming months, countervailing duties will be imposed.
