Brookfield Moves To Raise $5B With 8 New Funds

Law360, New York (May 30, 2012, 6:09 PM EDT) -- Brookfield Asset Management Inc. is seeking investors for several new funds with a total fundraising goal of $5 billion, $3.5 billion of which is reportedly slated for global real estate investment, according to news reports published Wednesday.

The Toronto-based asset management firm is looking to contribute about $1 billion and raise $2.5 billion from outside investors for what would be one of the largest real estate funds since the economic downturn, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
