Houston Firefighters Recover $2.3M From City In OT Dispute

Law360, New York (May 30, 2012, 8:24 PM EDT) -- A Texas state court judge on Tuesday entered a $2.3 million judgment against the city of Houston, ending a dispute brought by hundreds of firefighters who claimed the city docked their pay in order to illegally recoup overtime compensation.

The judgment overturns an administrative ruling that firefighters were not entitled to compensation during approved leaves of absence. Several hundred firefighters will split $1.6 million, with individual payments ranging from a few hundred dollars to several thousand.
