Feds Shutter NYC, Philly Discount Bus Network

Law360, New York (May 31, 2012, 1:29 PM EDT) -- Federal regulators said Thursday they shut down three Chinatown bus companies that operate out of New York City and Philadelphia, declaring them imminent hazards to public safety after a spate of deadly crashes in 2011 sparked an industry crackdown.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, closed three primary companies — New York-based Apex Bus Inc. and I-95 Coach Inc. and Philadelphia-based New Century Travel Inc. — that oversaw a network of entities, issuing a total of 26 shutdown orders....
