DC Circ. Nudges Air Force To Bargain Layoffs With Union

Law360, New York (June 5, 2012, 4:11 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Air Force must come to the bargaining table with unionized workers trying to minimize the impacts of layoffs, the D.C. Circuit ruled Friday, finding that management rights to cut staff aren’t excessively impacted by organized labor’s proposals.

The controversy centers on staff reductions at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona, where the American Federation of Government Employees Local 1547 is seeking to structure downsizing in a manner that protects seasoned employees.
