1 Motorola Patent Remains In Apple Smartphone Countersuit

Law360, New York (June 5, 2012, 4:25 PM EDT) -- Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. on Tuesday lost part of its counterclaims against Apple Inc. over smartphone technology when an Illinois federal judge ruled the iPhone maker didn't infringe one of two Motorola patents that were remaining in the suit.

U.S. Circuit Judge Richard A. Posner, presiding over the case by special designation, said that based on his construction of one of the claims in Motorola's U.S. Patent Number 6,175,559, Apple deserved a summary judgment of noninfringement on the networking patent.
