Federal Insurance Wants Off Hook For PetArmor Defense

Law360, Wilmington (June 5, 2012, 8:35 PM EDT) -- Federal Insurance Co. sued Velcera Inc. in Pennsylvania federal court Tuesday to escape responsibility for defense costs in a class action alleging Velcera’s PetArmor flea and tick repellent harms pets.

The life sciences insurance policy issued by Federal to Velcera and subsidiary FidoPharm Inc. covers damages resulting from bodily injury or property damage caused by the product, but the claims in the class action do not fit this definition, according to the complaint.
