Broadcom Sues Qualcomm Over Patents In California Courts, ITC

Law360, New York (May 19, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Communications chip maker Broadcom Corp. has fired a legal broadside against mobile technology maker Qualcomm Inc., suing the San Diego company for patent infringement in California federal court and at the U.S. International Trade Commission.

The complaints allege that Qualcomm infringes 10 Broadcom patents related to wired and wireless communications and multimedia processing technologies.

“We believe that Qualcomm's current and next generation cellular baseband and radio frequency (RF) product lines infringe a number of our patents,”said Scott McGregor, Broadcom's President and CEO.
