Green Groups Press NY GOP On Fracking Waste Bill

Law360, New York (June 6, 2012, 6:17 PM EDT) -- Environmentalists descended on New York's capital city Wednesday, serving up faux "toxic cocktails" with hydraulic fracturing-themed names in a bid to pressure Republicans to pass legislation subjecting byproducts of the controversial gas drilling method to classification as hazardous waste.

The Sierra Club, Environmental Advocates of New York and anti-fracking group New York Water Rangers offered up the fictitious beverages, with names like the “Albany Sour” and the “Long Island Frack Tea,” to lawmakers who have refused to move on legislation introduced by state Sen. Tony Avella,...
