Recordings Off-Limits In Bid-Rigging Case Against UBS Execs

Law360, New York (June 7, 2012, 5:49 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Tuesday declined to revoke privacy privileges attached to secretly recorded communications in a criminal case against three former UBS AG executives over their alleged participation in fraud schemes and bid-rigging related to contracts in the municipal bond market.

Federal prosecutors had asked for the privileges exercised on 27 recordings to be overruled so that it could produce unredacted versions of the recordings to its trial team and to the defendants. The government also sought an order permitting disclosure of previously...
