DOE Fights BP's Bid For Agency Emails In Deepwater MDL

Law360, New York (June 7, 2012, 6:14 PM EDT) -- An attorney for the U.S. Department of Energy told a Louisiana federal judge on Wednesday that BP PLC was not entitled to 28 government documents the company seeks as it defends itself in multidistrict litigation over the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

In a declaration filed as part of ongoing multidistrict litigation over the spill, DOE general counsel Gregory Woods said the emails in question revealed candid deliberations between the department’s secretary, Steven Chu, his advisors and officials from the U.S. president's office over how to respond...
