EPA Bending Data To Justify Fracking Regs, GOP Rep. Says

Law360, New York (June 7, 2012, 8:24 PM EDT) -- A House Republican accused the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday of manipulating scientific data to justify new regulations on hydraulic fracturing, and demanded the agency detail its plans to study whether the process can contaminate drinking water.

Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md., sent a letter to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson blasting what he called the agency’s “lack of transparency and responsiveness” surrounding its fracking research and alleged the EPA had flip-flopped on claims that fracking had fouled water supplies.
