Circuit Stops Ban On Phones With Qualcomm Chips

Law360, New York (September 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A U.S. appellate court has stayed the importation ban of mobile phones that contain Qualcomm Inc. chips pending the appeal of a patent infringement ruling against the chip maker.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled Wednesday that phone manufacturers may import handsets containing Qualcomm power-saving chips that allegedly infringe on a Broadcom Corp. patent.
