Myspace Privacy Deal With FTC Lacks Backbone, EPIC Says

Law360, New York (June 11, 2012, 4:48 PM EDT) -- The Electronic Privacy Information Center said Friday that Myspace LLC’s recent settlement over user data privacy with the Federal Trade Commission didn't go far enough, saying the social media website should be forced to adhere to stricter standards.

In comments submitted Friday, EPIC said it supported the FTC’s investigation, but urged the regulator to make the privacy protections required of Myspace as strong as those adopted in the FTC’s November settlement with Facebook Inc.
