UnitedHealth Fights Probe By Minnesota AG

Law360, New York (September 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- UnitedHealth Group Inc. argued before the Minnesota Appeals Court on Thursday that an investigation into stock options backdating by state Attorney General Lori Swanson should be blocked.

Minnesota-based UnitedHealth is appealing a Minnesota lower court decision to sign off on a civil investigative demand by Swanson. The health insurer was engulfed by a backdating scandal in 2006 that cost then-chief executive William McGuire his job.
