SEC Issues Road Map For Swap Reform Implementation

Law360, New York (June 11, 2012, 7:38 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday broadly outlined how it plans to implement dozens of new rules governing the $700 trillion over-the-counter swaps market, but did not provide specific dates for when Wall Street would need to comply with the fresh regulation.

For nearly two years now, the SEC and other regulators have been writing rules for the previously unregulated derivatives market, which was widely blamed for worsening the financial crisis, under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform law.
