FCC Mulls Privacy Concerns Posed By Carriers' Data Mining

Law360, New York (June 12, 2012, 5:48 PM EDT) -- The Federal Communications Commission is seeking a fresh look at whether wireless carriers' collection of personal information from customers' mobile devices poses privacy concerns, according to a preview of Wednesday's Federal Register.

In a public notice, the FCC said it is seeking comment on how wireless providers gather and use customer information from cellphones as the agency considers whether this practice threatens consumer privacy and security.
