Court Slaps Medtronic With Injunction In Biomet Patent Case

Law360 (May 25, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A California federal court has issued an injunction against medical device maker Medtronic Inc. over polyaxial screws that infringed a patent held by musculoskeletal products company Biomet Inc.

Without a hearing, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California granted Cross Medical an injunction on Medtronic products that were found to infringe one of Cross's patents relating to multi-axial screws used in spinal fusion surgery, Medtronic said.
