Class Certification Nixed In Welding Fumes Litigation

Law360, New York (September 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has denied a class certification bid by a group of welders in a multidistrict litigation alleging welding fumes caused a range of adverse health effects.

In a ruling handed down Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Judge Kathleen McDonald O'Malley said that a motion by a group of plaintiffs, referred to in court documents as the Steele plaintiffs, did not meet all federal requirements, and must therefore be denied.
