Unions Back NJ Bill To Penalize Call Center Job Offshoring

Law360, New York (June 14, 2012, 6:45 PM EDT) -- Union leaders told New Jersey lawmakers on Thursday that a bill penalizing companies when they ship call center jobs overseas would help discourage such offshoring and ensure that businesses that do relocate those positions abroad aren't rewarded with tax breaks and other incentives.

The Senate Economic Growth Committee heard testimony on the legislation that would force telecommunications giants such as Verizon Communications to notify the state when there's a large relocation of call center business in New Jersey to a foreign country.
